Is Your Life Still Right On Track?
Â
Your Test Result
Â
The direction is clear, just missing some focusÂ
Â
Congratulations, you know where you want to go in life. At the same time you are aware that the journey is part of the destination. You like to work, but a fulfilling private life is just as important. You’re also good at juggling appointments and obligations, and you are aware of the importance of a healthy body and mind.
Â
What’s going well
You want to do justice to all areas of your life. You are good at your job and skillfully balance the different demands on your time and attention. In your private life, you take care of friends, organize your family and pursue your hobbies. Work-life balance is important and you try to get the most out of your time. You would like to have three lives to do all the things you love.
Â
But beware
Sometimes the constant pursuit of balance and efficiency can be exhausting. Your biggest problem is time. There is never enough of it. You have many interests, ideas and plans - and far too little time to bring even half of them to fruition. Your biggest criticism of yourself is doing a lot of things only halfway and not following through. You start many things and often get stuck along the way.
3 tips on how to proceed
- What you need is focus. Focus on what’s important in your life - what's really relevant to you and what gives you energy. What makes life worth living. What are the most important life values for you? And accordingly, the most important goals? The less-is-more philosophy was invented for people like you! Find the common denominator in your life and don't get lost in numerous distractions.
- Take some time to find out what the so-called work-life balance really means to you. Is the balance you are looking for really what you want? Or did you fall victim to the lures of a consumer society that wants to make profits from wellness products and self-help literature? Maybe you're doing everything right according to conventional wisdom: you've spent years curating a balanced life, take care of your health, eat consciously, pursue a creative hobby, hang out with friends etc. - and yet you often feel exhausted and unbalanced. You might need to get rid of excess, de-clutter your life and your agenda!
- Take deliberate breaks in which you stop checking your calendar and instead concentrate on the here and now. Think of it a deceleration cure - to go through life more calmly. Â
Last but not least
Your life doesn't unfold on a to-do list, and you don't need the perfect balance between work and private life to bring your full potential into the world. On the contrary - an authentic life may at first glance to be the exact opposite of balance and harmony. Free yourself from the idea of the perfect work-life balance. It simply doesn’t exist. Instead, keep an eye on your personal goals and values and free yourself from unnecessary baggage.
